Did you really think the Pudgy Tub of Lard could win them all?

Seriously Brewer fans. Seriously?

As I drove home from the Cubs game on Sunday back to Indianapolis, I listened to the WGN 720 post game show. The show was mostly filled with bashing of Jason Marquis and praise for our offense breaking out.

But one die-hard Cubs fan called in. She mentioned she lives in Milwaukee and has to put up with Brewer fans. She stated that all weekend, all the talk on Milwaukee sports radio was how Pudgy Tub of Lard (er...I mean CC Sabathia) and Ben Sheets had already won games 1 and 2 vs the Cubs and they were already looking at first place and games 3 and 4. Seriously?

Do you not respect the Cubs that much and truly believe Sabathia is perfect? All you had to do was look at the career numbers of the Cubs lineup vs Mr. Lard to know that the Cubs were going to get to him. But I guess you aren't that intelligent.

What a game last night. It really had it all. Elation with Soriano's display and early runs. Despair with JJ Hardy and Braun hitting back to back jacks. Again, I truly believe that all someone needs to do is throw a freaking fastball at Braun's head and get him uncomfortable. That should jitter him up for a few games. Either that, or let's please not pitch to him. Depression on Hart's RBI double but small consolation on him being out at 3rd. Horror as Lee hits a taylor made DP to Hardy, but incredible joy 1.5 seconds later as Rickie Weeks throws to the Bratwurst instead of Prince Fielder. "Oh! You mean I have to throw to the guy that eats bratwurts...not the bratwurst himself?" Er...no, Fielder just looks like he eats a lot of brats, he is actually a vegetarian.....yeah right.

I bet CC never thought he'd be begging for his second baseman from last year, Josh Barfield....but Weeks makes Barfield look like Roberto Alomar.

Hey Rickie! I am gonna eat you after I catch my breath
from throwing 682 pitches in 6 games as a
Brewer. Seriously Yost, I am a FA to be!

Unbelief as Russel Branyan takes Howry deep. Anyone else notice how bad Howry has been lately? I think we are forgetting about it because of Marmol's recent wildness.

But then unbridled excitement and joy as Derrek Lee drives a ball the opposite way for a double (thats right, I said double, not double play which is his usual occurrence this year) and DeRosa hits a perfectly placed infield hit. Is anything more demoralizing to a defense than an infield hit? I don't think so. Oh wait, maybe a Rickie Weeks error. Count that as 2 big demoralizers.

I won't be like Brewer fans and assume Zambrano will take down Sheets tonight, but I will admit that we've got a good shot. Keep em in the rearview mirror boys!

Since this is a Theriot blog, I have to give an update. 1-5 with 6 LOB....Not his best game. But we'll take it. And his little buddy, Mighty Mike Fontenot....well that guy has been awesome. Sunday's bases clearing double was priceless. And being in the stands for that one was as good as it gets.
THE RIOT!
