Rumblings....

I haven't done a post for pretty much most of the season so I figured I'd sum up my thoughts on the Cubs and my boy The Riot. Don't worry out there, I've been watching intently and have been to several games already this year, including a marathon 3 games in 4 days in June when we smashed the Rockies.

This leads me into some Larry King / Jayson Stark style rumblings and grumblings.

Wrigley Field never gets old, I still feel like a school girl meeting Justin Timberlake everytime I walk up the steps and see the Friendly Confines. It's kind of like James Earl Jones' speech in Field of Dreams...I get the chills every time

Theriot is not only my favorite cub on this team but probably my favorite Cub since Mark Grace...and that's saying something. Also my wife commented that she'd "do" him during a game last week....eh, that's ok i probably would too

Derek Lee....I'm sorry he is by far my least favorite Cub. The only thing i see when i look at Derek Lee is a 3 run shot in game 6... Well that and him clutching his wrist mere weeks after I made him my number 1 fantasy pick. Here's to Micah Hoffpauer making him the next Wally Pip. (I wrote that for a half finished blog 2 months ago...guess I didn't call that one right)

Ryan Theriot is second only to Ichiro in the majors in singles on the year. I wouldn't call the riot a poor man's Ichiro, but definitely the middle class guy's Ichiro. Well you know, at least one that speaks better english.

Reason 104 while i love The Riot: He's really got the arm of a 12 year old girl but he still is able to play a solid shortstop. I can relate, I also have the arm of a 12 year old...Unfortunately, I also have the fielding, hitting ability and mood swings of a 12 year old girl....

Apparently during the recent Marlins series Erin Andrews was throwing herself at the Riot. Personally I don't see what all the fuss is about, I mean it's Erin Andrews not Suzi Kolber. Anyway solid points for Riot for not taking the bait. That girl has got cougar written all over her.

Is anyone else aware that Theriot is the only Cub starter to be batting over 300? Take THAT all you nay-sayers.

I live in Indianapolis, home of the AAA Indians, an affiliate of the Pirates. There's a player for them that is the living embodiment of Willie Mays Hayes. It's creepy how much alike they are, look him up, Niger Morgan. And true to his name the guy does run like Hayes...but he hits like shit

Shortstops at the minor league level can't throw anyone out, makes you appreciate how small a margin for error there is at that position. You have to field the ball and be throwing to first all in one motion. Or if you're shawon dunston you hurl it as hard as you can into the dirt 3 feet in front of first....take your pick...

That's it for now, go Cubs, Go Riot!
