Two of my favorite things come together. Beautiful.

Time out
I thought I'd take a time out from the crumbling that is the Cubs latest attempt at a late season melt down and address the beginning of the football season. The one good thing is that if the cubs could pick a time to hit a skid, right now sure beats when playoff time rolls around...assuming we're still going to make the playoffs.
Of course there is still the possibility that this is some sort of thinly veiled attempt to give the division away to the Brewers so that we can avoid playing the Diamondbacks in five games, four of which would likely be started by either Webb or Haren. If we're lucky though the Dodgers will take care of that scourge of a team and the road will be paved for a Cubs...well i won't say it...
But i digress from my original digression which is: You're Welcome
For what you may ask? I would like to single handedly take credit for Tom Brady's knee injury. You see I have the worst luck when it comes to fantasy sports. My number one pick every year is pretty much destined for a mediocre season, or worse. Remember when Derek Lee had that wrist injury...yep he was my number one pick. Mark Prior....was my number one pick 2 years in a row...need I say more...other than I'm sorry. No worries, I take all cubs off my 1st round fantasy radar now.
This year my strategy was simple, I hate Tom Brady, and really anything Pats related. I've never really had any Pats on my team so this year with the 4th overall pick in my Fantasy Draft I selected Tom Brady. It was a foolproof plan really, either he was going to follow the trend of most of my other 1st round picks and have a mediocre season...or get hurt. And even if Brady has a good season, at least it benefits my fantasy team, right?
Well, it didn't take long, this curse of my fanstasy team is far more powerful than any Madden jinx or voodoo like hex. It's about time i learned to start using it to my advantage. The next evolution is to try and bet on things like this. I wonder what kind of odds i could have gotten in Vegas on a Tom Brady ACL injury....
And just to tie this back into the purpose of this blog for a second, which is pretty much a shrine to the studly shortstop of the Chicago Cubs, Mr. Ryan Theriot...I actually have Theriot on BOTH of my fantasy baseball teams...and yet he's still putting up a career year. Yup, reason 798 why I love the Riot: He's impervious to the fantasy curse...
