Does Lou Read this Blog?

In my last post I made a call to Lou to get Soriano down in the 3 hole and get The Riot batting leadoff. Well over the weekend Lou actually listened! Unfortunately, the idea bombed incredibly. neither The Riot nor the Fonz were able to do much in the 1 and 3 holes. I still think it's a good idea, but I doubt we'll see that one again.

Here are my thoughts about this weekends Cards series....Uh oh. That about sums it up. The Cards are looking surprisingly solid this year and the cubs are digging themselves a hole in the division. If we don't lock up some wins soon we may firmly entrech a spot in the Cards rearview.

One half inning was the epidomy of the difference between the Cubs and Cards. After the cubs were able to break through with 3 runs on Friday with the help of some mistakes and a dropped fly ball by the Cards in the Top of the 7th the standard typical Cards inning ensued in the bottom of the 7th.

Marmol comes in and gives up a junk hit to Poo Hole, potentially the fattest man in the NL central. Is Matt Stairs still playing anywhere? Anyway, the cubs pay exactly zero attention to the Portly Poo Hole over at first (standard cubs) and somehow the chunky one is able to lumber into second stealing a base (standard cards). Of course the next hitter Ryan Ludwick dribbles a roller up the middle for a single that scores the Poo, boobies jiggling the whole way home.

Cards win, Cubs lose...it seems like the Cards always get the clutch hits and maximize what little offense they can muster on a give day. While the cubs seem to get the minimum amount of production from their hits. I can't remember how many games where I see the Cubs score 4 runs on 10 hits, and give up 5 runs on 4 hits.

I know it's a long season and the cubs will be in the hunt come September, but so will the Cards, smoke and mirrors in tow. On the bright side, Fukudome is getting off to a fast start, something we desperately needed and the starting pitching has been pretty solid, especially Rich Harden who with the exception of one start has been pretty dominate. There are the downsides too, Milton Bradley has been non-existant. Derek Lee continues his sucktatude, and Soto has gotten off to a slow start. And don't get me started on our bullpen.

Like i said it's still early, but we gotta get some things going in a better direction. And Riot, you've been great so far. But we need some more clutch hits!

go cubs!
